Free Agency Looms In 20 Minutes

The start of the free agent feeding frenzy will begin in about 20 minutes.  That is when teams no longer have to hid the fact they have been tampering with a players agent since the scouting combine.  It’s also when the Miami Dolphins will be able to officially add LT Branden Albert to their roster.  The Dolphins are expected to be heavy players for a second consecutive year.

While Miami will be players they won’t be the only ones.  The Cleveland Browns are reportedly willing to break open their piggy bank.  Karlos Dansby is reportedly signing a 4 year deal at 4 PM for about 4 Million per year.  That’s a lot of 4’s.  The Ravens are closing the gap with LT Eugene Monroe but can they finish before 4?  They are expected to be in play with other free agents as well and could strike a trade with Carolina for WR Steve Smith.

Out in the West Arizona town of Phoenix the Cardinals will be looking to add offensive lineman and more and could be looking at Oakland LT Jared Veldheer.  From Chicago to the NY Jets, more teams will be active this year than in years past due to the almost six million dollar increase in salary cap ceiling.

With Miami almost 99% having locked down Alberts the question of what they will with the rest of their line is now up for debate.  We will find out soon enough where new GM Dennis Hickey’s style plays out.  Will this be a Dennis Hickey FA period or a Joe Philbin one?  They both better be on the same page.  The Dolphins will once again spend with the hopes of improving their teams record which improved from 7-9 to 8-8 after an off-season of high spending last year.
