The Miami Dolphins have managed to keep one of their two fleeing defensive tackles. After months of not speaking the Dolphins opened the door last night and Randy Starks walked back in. The two year deal is worth 12 million. Starks is solid against both the pass and run and will be paired with free agent Earl Mitchell.
The deal is very similar to the contract Paul Soliai signed after he received the franchise tag a few years back. Simple two year agreement that isn’t overly paid out. It’s a very solid move for the franchise.
While Starks will shore up the remaining hole on the defensive line, glaring holes are still present on the offensive line. While Miami locked up Branden Albert yesterday, they have not touched either guard position nor the right tackle position. The team has Nate Garner and Sam Brenner as the only viable depth at the moment. The free agent market for RT’s and guards will begin to close very soon. The guard market is already trending in that direction.
The Dolphins will also need to fill a vacancy at CB and while fans would love to see Miami entice Darrell Revis it is looking more and more likely he will end up in New England.
