Dolphins To Host Finnegan Talk With Strief

The Miami Dolphins have been quiet the last two days.  But they are not done yet.  According to reports yesterday St. Louis Rams CB Cortland Finnegan will visit Miami on Friday.  When healthy, Finnegan is a huge talent with close to lockdown ability.  A strong hitter and coverage corner Finnegan’s biggest battle is his own health where nicks and dings have taken him out of games.  The Dolphins have a need across from Brent Grimes.  Dimitri Patterson was released and Nolan Carroll (NOT Chris Clemons) signed with the Eagles.

The bigger issue with Finnegan however is his play as of late.  He gave up several touchdowns last year and his play significantly slowed on the field.  Whether due to injuries or decline in performance there was a definite decline from two seasons ago when the Rams gave him a big contract.  There is likely better options available but no harm in giving him a look.

The Dolphins don’t appear ready to give the job to sophomores Will Davis or Jamar Taylor.

On the offensive line, Miami has reached out to New Orleans Saints RT Zach Strief.  Strief was contact early in the process but had prior off-season commitments and thus far has made no official visits.  It’s been reported that he would like to remain in New Orleans but the Saints are strapped with the salary cap.  The Dolphins have huge holes at both guard positions and right tackle.

There are several “reports” circulating on the Twitter, that Strief has declined the invitation to visit Miami… very well… as he pleases.
“One day and perhaps not so far away,
Strief may live to bitterly regret
the day he ignored what Miami had to say
as one he would much rather soon forget”

Can’t blame him… Miami probably offered more money… But their rebuilding 4/5 of the line… And not contenders….

      • Miami Jules (Julian)

True, but he could’ve been a co-star here along with Albert, and maybe even the leading man, based on his pass blocking abilities while in NO he is merely a supporting cast member, maybe even an extra lost in the crowd and barely recognizable in the big screen by his own family and friends among the hoard of others who are just a number under the pile. The stars in NO are the Grahams and the Brees where Strief is lost is a sea of anonymity.

Hey.. I hear you.. I really wanted Strief.. Now we are scraping the bottom of the barrel for a RT.. Hopefully we will draft Zach Martin who will play RT immedietly and he’s versatile.. Can play RT, G, and LT incase of an injury… He’s now a MUST.. Fingers crossed he lands in MIA

YEs, everyone’s raving about Martin… as in Zach Martin of course. I have a different prospect in mind though, one who may remind us of the drama of a few months ago and not because of the last name but because of the school… I know, I know, I put my life at risk for saying this but I have David Yankey in the 1st round. Why? Well because although Zach Martin is all the rage, I believe his size is limiting to a strick guard position and yes, he could play either or, but I don’t believe at the NFL level he can have the same impact as he had during the SR Bowl. I know I am alone on this one. You know what is really crazy though? I think, unless something happens between now and draft day to make me change my mind, I think I’m trading down if the right partner is found, so I would have it like this if I was Hickey.
            1-Trade down
2-Jaylen Watkins and Jack Mewhort (DB/S & OT/OG either side)
3-DaQuan Jones (I’ll have to change this to a LB since we resigned Starks)
            4-JaWuan James (RT)
            5-Brandon Coleman (WR 6’6″)
            6-Deandre Coleman (DT)
            7-Seantrel Henderson (OT from UM)

I also like Yankey… He’s the Most NFL-ready player.. But if Z Martin is available, and we don’t have Tackle help… He’s the guy.. But Yankey would fit perfectly in this offense… Very athletic and strong.. Honestly I think Martin and Yankey can immedietly start and there’s not much risk in rather player… Both technicians and reliable.. If Martin is off the board I wouldn’t mind Yankey..

Sounds like a plan and it also looks like we have missed out on top RT from F/A so we’re having to either bring back someone from last year (ugh) or draft one of these guys.
