The Miami Dolphins haven’t made any additions recently but they will fork over one of their picks in this May’s draft for a player who is on the free agent food line. As part of the trade that brought LT Bryant McKinnie to the Dolphins last season, the “conditional” pick is now a “definite” pick. The Dolphins will pay a seventh rounder for renting McKinnie for 10 games.
Seems a fair price.
The Dolphins could recoup that 7th rounder in 2015 if Jonathan Martin makes the roster of the 49’ers. That “conditional” pick is also considered value for someone who had a short list of options following his vacation from the NFL.
Seventh round picks are flyers and rarely do we see players in that round making major impacts so the trade was value for Miami. They should however be looking at McKinnie for the vacancy on the right.
