When Ralph Wilson passed away last week the NFL lost one of it’s founding fathers. The contributions made to the NFL by Wilson will never go unnoticed. Wilson’s death leaves in question the future of the Buffalo Bills franchise.
Rumors began to swirl after his passing that the team may uproot for L.A. after their current lease is up. That is still more than a few years away. Wilson was put to rest in his hometown of Detroit but on Sunday, the faithful fans showed up at his namesake stadium to send him off with a classy good-bye. A tailgate party.
Fans donned their Bills attire and parked their cars in the RWS parking lot. They cooked, drank, and toasted a man who’s legacy will continue on. A class act to a class owner.
Very few owners in the NFL still are accepted as stars, Ralph Wilson was that and more.
For Bills fans, the passing of Wilson comes on the heels of Jim Kelly’s cancer return. Aggressive chemo-therapy is under way on the Hall of Fame QB and biggest rival to Dan Marino. His four Super Bowl appearances were losses but hopefully this last super battle will be a notch in the win column. To he and his family we wish him the absolute best. To Ralph Wilson we simply say thank you for the game you brought us.
