It hasn’t been a year yet since then new Miami Dolphins TE Dustin Keller had his knee blown up during a pre-season game against the Houston Texans. A torn ACL, PCL, and MCL along with a dislocated patella ended Keller’s season and many thought would end his career. Welcome to the new world of modern medicine.
According to Keller’s agent, Jordan Raanan, Keller is ready to go. Will teams take a look and a chance? That’s another question.
Keller was signed to a one year deal last season and after the draft will likely find a TE needy team who will give him the same. Non-guaranteed until the season begins. For Keller it’s the best he can hope for. If he can follow that up with a solid productive season, maybe he get’s a better deal in 2015 but for now, Keller can’t expect much more than that as teams will be weary of a knee that was devastatingly injured.
If his agent is correct however it’s an amazing turnaround in only a short eight months. What used to take at least a year to heal and rehab an ACL tear has become almost a side note. Still, while his agent may say he is ready to go teams may not be ready to give the free agent a chance just yet. Here is hoping at some point, someone does.
