If you are an avid football fan and have been keeping up with NFl.com at all, some of their writers have recently published an interesting idea: an All-Time NFL Draft. With every player in the history of the NFL available, Elliot Harrison, Dave Dameshek and Daniel Jeremiah (all of NFL.com) have tried to predict which player in NFL history would go to each team in the league based on each team’s needs and draft order for the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft.
The NFL crew selected Barry Sanders, RB out of Oklahoma State (one of the best RB’s of all time and now a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame). With their main needs being linemen and RB, it is not surprising that the NFL crew chose Sanders as 19th overall pick in the All Time Draft for the Miami Dolphins, as Sanders is known today as the most elusive back of all time. Sanders is currently third on the NFL’s all time rushing list, behind the great Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith. There is little to no doubt that Sanders (in his prime) would improve Miami’s anemic running game immediately.
I was fascinated by this idea, and it inspired a lot of thought. I honestly could not narrow down the immense list of all time NFL greats to pick just one. However, given Miami’s need of linemen and running backs, I can’t say I disagree with the Barry Sanders selection. I flirted with some of the best linemen ever like Anthony Munoz, Jonathan Ogden and Willie Roaf. Ultimately, I think it would take days to decide.
What are your thoughts? Which player would you take 19th overall for the Miami Dolphins in the All Time Draft?
