Dolphins Sign Rookie Jarvis Landry

It was reported Thursday that the Miami Dolphins had signed rookie Jarvis Landry to a four-year contract.  Landry, who was drafted in the second round of May’s draft, is now the earliest draft pick the Dolphins have signed up to this point.

Jarvis Landry attended Louisiana State University, and started 12 games with the Tigers, totaling 137 receptions for 1,809 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Landry is competing with several Dolphins for the slot receiver spot, including Brandon Gibson, and Rishard Matthews.  Throughout OTAs, Landry has reportedly made more than an impact in just the receiver position, but also on special teams.  Landry has experience in special teams with LSU where he registered 21 tackles along with 2 fumble recoveries on special teams.

Landry’s signing will likely set the table for the Dolphins to sign their first round selection, Ja’waun James from Tennessee.

This kid got a future in the NFL.. They will bring him along slowly due to Gibson and Mathews… He will be on ST this year and eventually take over the Slot WR spot… Maybe be involved in 4 WR Sets and be available incase of injury… He is my favorite pick of the draft… I like 6’3-6’4 WRs, in which I would love for Miami to have atleast one.. If Binns has a camp like last year, he will be in evolved.. Especially in Red Zone opportunities… As I like big WRs and believe we need one (had Brandin Marshall who excelled and still is in Chicago).. I will make an exception with Jarvis Landry.. I see a Hines Ward type of player in him…
Now sign Turner and James and lets get this thing going!!!
How hard can it be.. There is a rookie scale.. Just minor details, like bonuses, incentives, and garaunteed money..
And with the 1st round pick to have that 5th year option… Let’s go!!!
    Phins up!!

I guarantee you that Jarvis Landry will play more than special teams this year he is far too good of a receiver to sit on the bench.I would also like to see Armon Binns get a real good chance at the number 2 receiver position challenging Brian Hartline.I do hope that we keep Arman Binns on the team as he is way too good to go to some other team.I really think Brandon Gibson may have to be put on the PUP list until he is completely healthy.I also hope Gator Hoskins gets a fair shot at tight end also or at least the halfback position.go dolphins….

If Gibson goes on PUP, then yes, Landry will play more.. And I’ve been high on Binns for awhile.. Probably having the best camp of ALL WRs last year before tearing his ACL.. He should be more recovered physically then Gibson and Hartline since their injuries came later.. Especially Gibson who tore his ACL also.. Hartline is practicing fully though.. But I would like alittle size in our WR corps… aka. Binns 6’3 215lbs..

I agree with you Johnny and I know you have been high on Binns since last year I’m just agreeing with you and I think he deserves a fair shot at more playing time I think he would really help our offense improve as well as our new system being installed just think Wallace on one side and Binns on the other I think it’d be great to see once in awhile at least …thanks for replying back and I agree with you on Brandon Flowers we should go after him also have a good one Johnny

Prediction::: (out of nowhere, just cause I feel like it..lol)…
    Nobody wants to hear this:::
RB Thigpen will be cut this year…
With the new (dumb rules) with less emphasis on KO returns, a KO returner job is always in risk…
Thigpen would HAVE to contribute to this team somewhere else… Just by looking at OTAs, there giving him a chance to make.. Even trying him out at Slot WR.. In which he’s not making plays (so far)
If either WRs Damien Williams or Jarvis Landry can beat out Thigpen as a punt returner/ KO returner….
    THIGPEN WILL BE CUT…
He’s not a RB that can crack the top 4 or 5 right now.. With RBs: Miller, Moreno, Thomas, and Gillslee ahead of him… And it doesn’t look he can contribute to the WR position … With basically All WRs ahead of him and 3 of the Slot guys (Gibson, Landry, and Gibson) ahead of him…

It’s going to be an uphill battle to make a spot on the 53…. Just saying..
