When completed in 2016 the $350 million stadium upgrades are expected to entice the NFL to bring a Super Bowl back to Miami. They are expected to bring world class soccer championships to Miami. They are hoping that fans will want to come back to the stadium as well. Winning will cure the last of those. We may have to wait until 2016 to see the finished product but today, the initial changes began.
The new features will showcase brand new video boards in all four upper corners of the stadium, new club level halls, upgraded concessions, a large canopy over the top, and new seating throughout the entire stadium.
The Dolphins are using several stages as they prepare for the completion. Yesterday began the initial planning and some cosmetic changes but most of the larger changes will not come until after the 2014 season has concluded. Tom Garfinkle, the teams CEO spoke with Miami-Dade Commissioners last week and he and some of the former players had some things to say about the changes. You can view the video here.
This year I will once again make my annual trek to Miami and will be sure to get as much information about all the changes and about the progress then.
