The Miami Herald is reporting that former Miami Dolphins 2nd round pick Samson Satele will work out of the Dolphins Monday in hopes of landing a job. The Dolphins have been kicking the tires on free agent centers after losing Mike Pouncey for up to three months. Pouncey had surgery to repair a torn labrum last week.
Satele brings back memories, albeit bad ones, for Dolphins fans. First he was picked by Cam Cameron who was a one and done coach for the Dolphins, secondly he was selected with a second round pick obtained VIA trade with New England that sent Wes Welker to the Patriots. Satele was later replaced by Jake Grove after being traded to the Raiders two seasons after being drafted for a sixth round pick.
Satele played a few seasons in Oakland before joining the Indianapolis Colts the last two seasons.
Satele isn’t the only player coming to Miami though. The Herald is also saying that Arizona Cardinal center/guard Daryn Colledge will also work out for the team. Two other unnamed free agents are also scheduled to work out for the team. The Dolphins have been internally discussing their options since losing Pouncey to open the season. Nate Garner has played well at right tackle, guard, and center but is considered more of an “off-the-bench” option. Sam Brenner is listed as the teams center but the Dolphins don’t believe he is ready quite yet. Brenner played well last year in place of Richie Incognito.
