Two weeks ago it was word that Mike Pouncey was going to miss up to three months after having hip surgery, today, we learn that Miami Dolphins DE Dion Jordan will miss the first four games of the season following a failed drug test. The NFL has handed Jordan a four game suspension.
While the NFL won’t specifically comment on the suspension, Dion Jordan is.
“I recently learned from the NFL that I tested positive for stimulants that are banned under the NFL policy,” Jordan said. “I worked carefully with my advisors and the union to investigate the test results, and I take full responsibility for the test results. I’m very sorry for the impact of this situation on my teammates, coaches, Stephen Ross, the entire Dolphins organization, fans and my family as well. I will continue to work extremely hard during training camp and preseason. During the suspension, I will stay in top shape and will be ready to contribute upon my return.”
Jordan has been working all off-season to better himself ahead of the season, he is blaming the failed test on banned stimulants and not PED’s, however, it is still Jordan’s responsibility to know what he can and can not take. He is at least manning up to that.
If the Dolphins could afford to lose a player, Jordan may be the one. The Dolphins are stacked along the defensive line and Jordan’s hybrid play doesn’t fully mesh with the system run by Kevin Coyle. The Dolphins moved up to the 3rd overall spot in last years first round of the draft to take the Oregon product.
Joe Philbin naturally was disappointed but gave credit to Jordan for taking responsibility.
