Miami Dolphins By The Numbers 49-50

We wil get to the half-way point today as we look at the greatest players to wear each number in Miami Dolphins history. Or as the case may be the best player out of a bad bunch.

We will start with uniform number 49.

Jimmy Warren 66-69, Ray Jones 1971, Charlie Babb 72-79, William Judson 81-89, Marvell Burgess wore the number in place of Judson during the strike of 1987, Tony Paige 1990-92, Robert Wilson 94-96, Dewayne Dotson 1997.  Heading into training camp this year, Micajah Reynolds has been assigned the number.

At first glance it would seem that Judson would have the honor of wearing the uniform the best but it’s hard to overlook the play of Charlie Babb. Babb was with the team for all three of their Super Bowl’s in the 1970’s and in his career he totaled 12 interceptions. In his eight year career Babb played both safety and corner. Williams Judson spent eight years in Miami as well and totaled 24 interceptions and two touchdowns. Still, it’s a matter of opinion and sometimes stats don’t determine our stars so you decide this one.
