Three off-seasons ago the Miami Dolphins became the featured NFL team on HBO’s Hard Knocks. Some fans thought it was a waste of time and gave away some of our secrets while others enjoyed the behind the scenes look at an NFL training camp. Consider myself in the latter. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this team on HK. In fact, I enjoyed the element of it so much that last year I opted to rent HBO for a month to watch the Cincinnati Bengals go through the ringer.
This year the Dolphins are not going to be featured on the HBO documentary but you can still see them in two weeks on Tuesday night. The Atlanta Falcons are this years focus of the HBO series and as we know from past experiences, the pre-season games are part of the show. This week, the Dolphins will face the Falcons in pre-season game one and by virtue of playing the Falcons, they will make an appearance, albeit briefly, on the following weeks show.
We won’t learn anything from their cameo on the series and we won’t see anything that we didn’t get to see on the telecast Friday night. We will however get to see them and let’s face it, after a long off-season, any chance to watch a different angle of the Dolphins is an angle worth watching. The series premiers tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. on HBO.
