If anyone is going to know the inner workings of the Rex Ryan led New York Jets it’s former GM Mike Tannenbaum. The Miami Dolphins added him ahead of last nights game against Atlanta. The move is not really a surprise as many in the media speculated that Tannenbaum would somehow join the Dolphins this off-season.
The move is one that has to come from team owner Stephen Ross who is friends with Tannenbaum and has deep connections within the New York Jets organization.
Tannenbaum has been working as a sports agent recently and will continue to do so according to the Palm Beach Post. He has a history with Dolphins’ Dawn Aponte whom he worked with in New York back in the 1990’s. The Post says that Tannebaum will help with innovation, analytics, and sports science.
The Dolphins also made Ryan Herman director of football administration, a title held last year by Aponte before her promotion to vice president. Herman will handle draft pick contract negotiations and help with other contracts and the salary cap. Dennis Lock has been hired to handle football analytics under GM Dennis Hickey, he is new to the organization. Dave Regan will serve as the teams sports science analyst.
