Tell me if you have heard this before, the Miami Dolphins are looking at Dan Marino to do “something” with the team. Today the team announced that after all the talk and speculation they have finally found a job in the organization for the teams best historical player. Yes Dan Marino has finally rejoined the Miami Dolphins.
The team announced today that Marino will serve as a special advisor to owner Stephen Ross and CEO Tom Garfinkel. What exactly his role with the team will be is anyone’s guess as the team isn’t saying what his outlined job description is. The team will hold a press conference to announce the event later this week.
Marino had once served as the teams Senior Vice President of Football Operations in 2004 but stepped away from the job three weeks later. Earlier this year he lost his job on the CBS pre-game show and had stressed his desire to return to the organization in some capacity.
“Dan is and will always be an important part of the Miami Dolphins, and we are excited to get him involved in a more formal way,” Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said in a prepared statement. “Dan is unquestionably one of the greatest players in NFL history and his enthusiasm and passion for the Dolphins is inspiring to everyone here.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role. I have always considered myself a Dolphin for life and I look forward to supporting the organization anyway I can,” added Marino, who spent his entire 17-year playing career in Miami. “Stephen Ross is a passionate guy who is committed to building a first-class, winning organization. I’m excited about the future of the team and where the organization is headed,” Marino said.
What do you think the addition of Marino to the team will do for the club?
