Miami Dolphins Begin Roster Moves: Update 6

facebooktwitterreddit

The Miami Dolphins have made no formal announcements but that does not stop news from trickling in from other places. We will update this as new waiver claim and signings as well as practice squad additions become available.

No news on who has been released to make room for the former Ravens cornerback.

It is also being reported that the Houston Texans have traded for New Englands Ryan Mallett.

The compensation for Mallett is apparently a  6th round pick which makes Bill Belichick look less genius like after taking the QB in the third round in 2011.

The Dolphins Dennis Hickey is readying for a press conference:

Dolphins adding TE to their practice squad.

Dolphins release Don Jones and WR Damian Williams.  Add Seamster and safety Brandian Ross: Per Dennis Hickey via press conference

MORE FROM NEWS CONFERENCE:

Hickey says team roster is “fluid” meaning things can change.

Regarding kicker – comfortable with Sturgis but will consider options.

Regarding roster – Says they look at traits ( from small schools) and that once a player is on the team they are judged by how they play regardless of h0w they arrived. Says they are always evaluating the players.

Re: Linebackers – has a lot of talent and anxious to see them play Confident this team can be a playoff team due to the players in the locker room

Re: Gator Hoskins. Versatile and did a lot of what the team likes Re: Tight ends. Says he is confident in the players they have.

Regarding cap: Says the team has flexibility moving forward.

END OF PRESSER

UPDATE:

The Dolphins appear to have only made two additions to the team through waiver wire claims. Safety Brandion Ross and CB Sammy Seamster. WR Tommy Streeter and QB Seth Lobato are the only two practice squad players so far. Dennis Hickey said the team is still working on that.

Ryan Mallett trade is for a bag of chips. Conditional 7th round pick in 2016.  Great wasted pick Billy~!

UPDATE from NFL: Detroit Lions sign TE Michael Egnew to the practice squad.
