Bill Belichick likes picking the brains of players from former teams, it will be interesting to see if safety Don Jones who was released by the Dolphins on Sunday will still have a job come game day next Sunday. The New England Patriots were awarded Jones off waivers after the Miami Dolphins initially kept Jones on the teams 53 man roster.

On Sunday the team added safety Brandian Ross to the 53 man roster and as a result Jones was released. Drafted in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Jones made headlines this off-season when he tweeted “OMG” and “Horrible” after ESPN aired video of Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend after he was drafted by the Rams.

New England will most certainly pick the brain of Jones as he has been on the roster all of training camp and knows the team signals and personnel habits. The Dolphins defensive coordinator will likely change up their play calling signals ahead of the opening game.

New England released defensive lineman Chris Barker to make room for Jones who was the Dolphins leading special teams tackler a year ago with 11 total tackles. The addition of Jones gives the Patriots six safeties.
