The Miami Dolphins face the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Sunday after losing to the Buffalo Bills 29-10. The Chiefs are looking for their first win of the season, as they lost their first two games of the season to the Tennessee Titans and the Denver Broncos respectively. Both teams are injury riddled and are looking to overcome an abundance of injuries to pick up the win.

Perhaps no other team has been decimated by injuries like these two teams. A total of three players combined for the Dolphins and Chiefs have been lost for the entire season already, as Dolphins LB Dannelle Ellerbe(hip), Chief’s’ RT Jeff Adams(elbow), LB Derrick Johnson and DE Mike Devitio(ruptured Achilles) won’t play another down this year. Kansas City’s Jamaal Charles(ankle) is questionable for Sunday’s game. Not only that, Pro Bowl DB Eric Berry and RB De’Anthony Thomas are not playing on Sunday. Dolphins LB Koa Misi will be missing his second straight game with an ankle injury.

Due to Miami losing Knowshon Moreno(elbow) for up to 4 weeks, they have signed RB Daniel Thomas who they cut earlier this offseason to fill the physical presence left by Moreno. Undrafted rookie RB Damian Williams will also see a lot more playing time until Moreno comes back. All of the RBs should see success on Sunday against a Chiefs defense that ranks 23rd in the league against the run.

QB Ryan Tannehill should have a pleasant day due to all of the injuries the Chiefs have on defense as well as them being 19th in the league in pass yards given up. A fun matchup to watch will be Mike Wallace vs Sean Smith. CB Sean Smith will be making his first return to Miami since he left in 2012. He’ll definitely will try to slow down Mike Wallace who has had a solid start to the season, as well as recording touchdown in each of the first two games this season.

On defense, the Miami Dolphins should be able to contain whatever the Chiefs throw at them. With no other dangerous threat outside of Jamaal Charles, whose status is up in the air, the Dolphins defense should be able to have a rebound performance. As long as they can get to Alex Smith with the pass rush and keep him inside the pocket, the defense should be fine. The Chiefs are 18th in the league in passing yards, not exactly explosive.

The Miami Dolphins should be able to win this game. But underestimating the Chiefs would be a mistake. They are a desperate team and any team can win on any given Sunday. Hopefully, the Miami Dolphins are prepared for a Chiefs team that will do anything for their first win of the season.
