Miami Dolphins Ryan Tannehill has 121.8 QB rating through three weeks

If Ryan Tannehill plays in Thursday nights pre-season finale, then Joe Philbin needs his head examined. Tannehill is ready now and there is no reason for him to be exposed to anything in this final week. Let him  rest, let him be ready for Washington. Through three pre-season games, and again what should be his final appearance in pre-season, Tannehill has been very impressive, hopefully finishing the exhibition season with a 121.8 passer rating.

More from Dolphins News

On Saturday night the Dolphins decided they had seen enough of their starter shortly before the end of the first half. Tannehill exited the game completing 15 passes on 19 attempts with one touchdown. More importantly he wasn’t sacked and he didn’t throw an interception. He did toss for 145 yards.

Over the entire slate of three games Tannehill is 33 of 41 for 303 yards and three scoring passes.

“I feel I’m ready,” he said about the seasons start. “Obviously we have two more weeks until the start of the regular season and those practices are going to be crucial. But I feel confident of where I’m at right now and what we’re building and the next two weeks will be crucial for us as we get ready for Washington.” – via the Miami Herald.

The Dolphins need their starting quarterback ready. Tannehill has emerged as a leader on the offense and the team and comparisons to last years pre-season contests are vastly different. Ryan Tannehill has a confidence he lacked last season. In part this is his 2nd season with Bill Lazor after spending his entire career in the pr0’s and college with Mike Sherman. He is also displaying  that aforementioned leadership. Last pre-season Tannehill seemed to be going through the motions trying to learn how to be a leader. This year he is one.

Pre-season rarely translates to success in regular season so fans should temper their enthusiasm as the season begins. Having success in one or two quarters of play is a lot different than finding it through four quarters when teams game plan against you. Not to be a downer however. There is no question that Tannehill has improved tremendously and he should continue to be as effective when the season rolls on.

Two more weeks.
