The Super Bowl is over and NFL teams like the Miami Dolphins can start making roster moves as of Monday. Several players across the NFL have already been released. Will Miami make any moves in the coming days?

With the Dolphins needing to purge salary several players may be out of work long before the start of the free agency begins next month. Already a top pro-bowl guard is available on the street. Yesterday the Saints released Jahri Evans because he was due a $3 million roster bonus.

The Dolphins have a few players that could be purged for salary cap reasons. Here is a look at some of those players who may be on the early chopping block.

Quinton Coples – According to a report by Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Coples who is due $7.7 million in 2016 will be released prior to the start of free agency. The Dolphins could look to cut him and then re-sign him at a lower amount. None of Coples contract is guaranteed unless he is on the roster opening day 2016.

Jordan Cameron – The Dolphins didn’t use the big tight-end they way they should have and because of that his production was way off. Miami would save $7.5 million in cap space by releasing him. He too could be a target for retention at a reduced rate.

Dion Jordan – currently suspended by the NFL, Jordan’s salary situation is an odd one because of the suspension. Miami has some wiggle room with his contract but for now if they release him he would save the team $3.2 million.

Greg Jennings – The Dolphins don’t need Jennings and his contract will put him around $5.5 million in 2016. Releasing him would save the club $4 million in cap space.

Earl Mitchell – Mitchell was disappointing in 2015 and cutting him would save the team over $2 million.

Dallas Thomas – While his contract is minimal, the Dolphins could save $1.67 million by releasing him taking a small $151,000.00 cap hit.

Brent Grimes – Grimes isn’t going to be released any time soon but the Dolphins will start looking at his over $9 million cap hit for next season. We could start to hear chatter of a restructure.

Cameron Wake – Like Grimes, Wake isn’t going to be released. Not yet. The Dolphins will however try to get his deal lower than the over $9 million he is due in 2016. Wake of course is coming off an Achilles injury that sidelined him most of the season.
