The Green Bay Packers will see Greg Jennings at Lambeau Field this year, it will just be in a Minnesota Vikings uniform. After days of back and forth and speculation, Jennings finally agreed to join the Vikings.

Jennings was a pre-free agency top choice of the Miami Dolphins but when the market opened, Jennings was nowhere on the Dolphins radar. In fact, he wasn’t on anyone’s radar. Jennings spoke candidly with the media in regards to wanting a big salary stating he was seeking a 12 million annual deal. Only the Vikings entered into contract talks with him. It’s unknown at this time what the final deal was for.

Jennings will turn 30 before the start of the season and is coming off a season that he spent most of on the injured list.

The Green Bay Packers have announced that they will release longtime cornerback Charles Woodson. Woodson, who was drafted 4th overall by the Oakland Raiders in the 1998 NFL Draft has had one amazing career. When he first entered the league he made an immediate impact and quickly developed into one of the best cornerbacks in the league. In 2006, Woodson made the transfer to the NFC, as he decided to sign with the Green Bay Packers on 7 year deal that was in the 50 million dollar range. Since becoming a Packer, Woodson has gone onto win multiple awards, including the Defensive Player of The Year Award in 2009, as he helped the Green Bay Packers win yet another Super Bowl.

Despite getting up there in age, Woodson has still shown tremendous playing ability, making the Pro Bowl from 2008-2011. However, this year Woodson was switched to the safety position where he did seem to struggle at times. Finishing the season with only 38 tackles and 1 interception, it was clear that Woodson wasn’t the same player and at the age of 36, the Packers did not want to keep giving him the big dollars. Last season Woodson broke his collarbone, costing him the final nine games of the season. Heading into this season Woodson was set to make around nine million between his salary and additional bonuses.

I think that Woodson still has at least one more year in him. If he can sign a contract with a contending team, with a smaller role, then I believe that he could really be effective. Some teams that I think could be interested in bringing him in are the New England Patriots, the Houston Texans, and the San Francisco 49ers. I’m hoping that Woodson doesn’t retire, because it would be awful to have to end such a great career not on your terms.

After a good start to the post season, going 4 and 0 in my picks I am back to see if I can keep the streak going into the Divisional round. This may be the best week of the post season, where the best of the best square off.

The first matchup of the week is the Ravens against the Broncos. The Ravens defense had no problem shutting down Andrew Luck last week. But Payton Manning is on a different level. The MVP and comeback player of the year candidate is coming into the playoffs on a ten game win streak. The Ravens have a lot of momentum going for them, but I am not too sure if it is enough to hold off the number one seed Broncos.

Last week the Ravens won, not behind Ray Rice who coughed the ball up twice, but instead behind some excellent throws by Joe Flacco trying to state his case at being an elite quarterback. If the Ravens want to have any chance at winning both Joe Flacco and Ray Rice have to play at the top of their game. While I expect the Ravens to fight to the end, it will not be enough to hold off the Broncos. Broncos win 31-20

The second game, is the Packers against the 49ers. The Packers had a great win last week against the Vikings who had to start the always dangerous Joe Webb in place of Christian Ponder.

I expect a great game out of these two teams. The 49ers are the favorite on Defense but the Packers have their fair share of play makers on defense. On offense, the Packers are the better team, ever since Collin Kaepernick took over the starting job for the niners the team has not looked the same. Shaky on offense and not much consistency. Alex Smith should still be the quarterback in San Fran. Kaepernick is getting his first playoff snaps and I don’t think he will fair to will against a dangerous Packers D.

In the last game of the night I expect an upset. Green bay will come into Sanfran, and then leave with a win. 28-17 Packers.
