Recently or ReignOfTroy editor Trenise  Ferreira, had a chance to sit down and chat with Miami Dolphins LB Josh Kaddu.  The two of them being friends from school, Trenise was able to squeeze in three quick questions for me with the possibility of more to come at a later date.  So, here is what I wanted to know about the young rookies first foray into the NFL.

PhinPhanatic – Josh, how has it been adjusting to the NFL thus far?

“It’s been good so far. The veterans have been helpful, and hanging out with the other rookies has been awesome. So it’s been a smooth a transition thus far, I’m just hoping to get a feel of what training camp is gonna be like, which starts soon.”

PhinPhanatic - How do you feel your chances are of securing a roster spot?

 ”I feel like I have a pretty good chance, what I am really focused on is getting some PT (playing time) and improving so I can just go out there and play, show them what I can do.”

PhinPhanatic – What has been the biggest surprise so far at this level?

“Really nothing yet because I haven’t experienced too much but I feel like once I start training camp and experience what the NFL life is like, I might have a surprise for  you.”

We will be sure to try and follow up with Josh as soon as we can.  In the meantime, Josh is three days away from his first NFL training camp and all of us can see him on the HBO series Hard Knocks which will premier on August 7th.  Thank you to Trenise for her giving us a chance to get a few ?’s in with Josh.

So, it seemed obvious to many that Jeff Ireland would use a high draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft on a WR.  What seemed obvious did not happen.  Instead, Ireland used a 6th and a 7th round pick to select two WRs.  So, what about the Dolphins’ 2012 Draft Picks at Wide Receiver?  And, what about the two undrafted free agent rookies (UFARs) at WR that were acquired by the Dolphins immediately subsequent to the draft?  Could they possibly fill the void?

As the 2012 NFL Draft unfolded, I personally thought that after selecting a QB (1st round), an OT (2nd round), and then a DE (3rd round), Ireland would select a WR with the Dolphins’ additional 3rd round pick received as compensation for Marshall.  Mohammed Sanu (WR – Rutgers) and T.Y. Hilton (WR – Florida Atlantic) were available at the time.  Instead, Ireland selected Michael Egnew (6’6″ and 245 pound TE – Missouri) with the 15th pick of the third round (78th selection overall).
