Serious props go out to our great friends over at DolfansNYC.com especially Igor for catching the early concept of the new logo two months ago.  Today, after a local beater published the logo and confirmed that the recent leak was legit, Miami Dolphins CEO Mike Dee acknowledged that the logo leaked last week is indeed the new image.

Following the realization that the Dolphins would not be able to have a “logo reveal” party, the Dolphins began allowing their players to wear the new image in public.  DT/DE Jared Odrick wore the first image today as he arrived for a community charity event sporting the new logo.  The Dolphins have informed the press that while the logo may have been leaked, there will still be a surprise or two come April 25th at the draft when the team will unveil the changed uniform as well.

The most notable difference aside from the dolphin itself and the spiked sunburst, the color scheme is closer to the teams original aqua and teal as opposed to the darker teal of late.

If you have been keeping up with things around here or where I post, you will have seen that I have been telling anyone who will listen that the logo unveil would be on April 18th ahead of the draft.  Today, the Dolphins made it officially known that they will unveil the logo on April 18th, ahead of the draft.

This didn’t come from a source in Miami, I simply called a friend who works there and asked if he knew when the unveiling would be.  He said he had heard the 18th.  That simple.  Nothing more.  So today’s announcement isn’t all that surprising but there is some information to take note of.  The Miami Dolphins are not simply unveiling a new logo but apparently there will be some color changes as well.  This according  to the Dolphins.  It will still be aqua and orange so I wonder if the navy blue will be gone?

There has been a lot of speculation on the topic of the Dolphins logo.  There was a leaked logo that our friends at DolfansNYC had found and to their credit the Dolphins did acknowledge that the logo was a sketch so it’s possibly a closer version.  There has been rumors regarding the Brian Hartline signing and the etched logo on the glass table, then the Dannell Ellerbe twitter account with a fan designed logo.  All of them can’t be right.

In 30 days we will know for sure.

We didn’t run a “design your own Miami Dolphins logo” contest here.  Too many others were doing that already.  So instead, we waited until the two who drew the biggest draw wrapped up their contests, and then decided to pit them against each other.

Below you will find the winner of the 99Designs contest.  They will be logo A.  Then will be the Miami Herald contest winner.  Image B.  Finally, the leaked logo that made national circulation shortly after it was posted will be logo C.  In the hopes of keeping this from being an “everyone will vote for the current logo” type poll, the current and former logos will not be an option.
