Well, here it is. Since I haven’t seen it yet, I’ll be that guy and call for the Miami Dolphins to bring former Florida Gator Quarterback, Tim Tebow, back to Florida.

Tebow will be entering his fourth-season in the National Football League, and with his recent release from the New York Jets, he comes as an intriguing option.

The 6’3”, 240 lbs. quarterback had his best season with the Denver Broncos in 2011:

Yards Passing: 1,729

Completion Percentage: 45.6

Touchdowns: 12

Interceptions: 6

Yards Rushing: 660

Attempts: 122

Average: 5.4

Touchdowns: 6

Fumbles: 6 – 2 Lost

The biggest factor we cannot see from his stat-line here is that Tebow stepped in and led the Denver Broncos to the play-offs after the team started the season going 1-4 – mind you, Tebow did not start until week 7 against Miami meaning QB Kyle Orton led Denver to this putrid record. Tebow led Denver to the play-0ffs by reeling-off numerous fourth-quarter comebacks, including one against Miami, and winning seven of his last eleven games in nail-biting fashion. Thus, TebowMania was born.

Now, I’m not saying Miami should bring this guy in as a quarterback. Nor am I saying the team should stash him at any other position, really. Bring this guy in as an athlete or strictly as a football player.

Hell, NFL.com believes that the Dolphins are the most logical fit for the former Florida Gator QB.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000165845/article/tim-tebow-tracker-where-will-he-play-in-2013

Yes, I am fully aware that the organization has a pretty damn good quarterback named Ryan Tannehill. And yes I am fully aware that Tebow can barely complete a ten yard button-hook. But I am also fully aware that this guy has an incredible passion for this game that we all love.

As Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com points out, if Miami shows any interest at all it should be from a business stand point. The team wants to sell tickets and has wanted to do so for quite some time now. That’s just what this guy does. Tebow sells tickets. He practically has his own nation known as the “Tebowmaniacs”.

The Dolphins are also going through a struggle to find funding for their stadium renovations. So why not sign this guy and grab his fan base. If you give this guy a shot, you bet your buttocks that his “Tebowmaniac” fan base is going to want to see this guy in action. Therefore, they will vote YES towards public funding for your renovations, Stephen Ross.

All of that aside, what are some other reasons the team should bring this guy back to Florida?

Well the team has been looking to add play-makers to it’s roster for years now. Jeff Ireland has done a great job in doing so this off-season. Adding receivers Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and Dustin Keller was incredible. Adding a duo of stud linebackers whom can run in Dannell Ellerbe and Phillip Wheeler was also a great move.

So why not add another dimension to the offense? First off, the team lost running back Reggie Bush whom has been the only consistent play-maker the team has had on offense since the team traded for the unique running back. Secondly, we are all about surrounding our second-year quarterback RT with play-makers on offense. Oh and one more thing, OC Mike Sherman and HC Joe Philbin know a thing or two about getting the most out of their players and developing players.

Bring Tebow in to be a red-zone threat. Isn’t that what this team has been missing for quite some time now? A big time red-zone guy? You bet your butt.

Tebow has a unique skill set and could add another dimension to an already versatile offense. Split him out wide and flip the ball to him. Hell split Tannehill out wide and have Tebow flip the ball to him – let’s not forget that Tannehill starred at Texas A&M as a Wide Receiver before switching to Quarterback over Jerrod Johnson.

In my opinion, this guy is no quarterback. He showed some promise in clutch situations as a Denver Bronco, but he could not preform well consistently during the first three quarters of the game – if that even makes sense…Stick this guy at the H-Back position. Beef him up a bit and utilize his skill set. He can air it out and he is a dynamic runner with the ball in his hands – he’s a freaking load to bring down.

A two-back shotgun set of Tannehill between Lamar Miller and Tim Tebow gives Miami flexibility and adds another speedy-versatile dimension to the offense.

We are moving towards a NFL ruled by the option offense. Miami has been rumored to be moving towards adding an option package for Tannehill to use. So why not make this move and make some noise in Miami?

It’s the day before the draft and there are reports/smoke screens left and right about what every team may or may not do. Every report has to be taken with a grain of salt. I thought it would be a good idea to look at three possible trades that could take place in the AFC East.

Brendan Albert to the Miami Dolphins. Yes i said I didn’t think this trade would happen, but times have changed and I think Miami will make the right choice, at their price. Kansas City wants a seconds round choice for the Tackle, but I don’t think they will get it.

The ball is now in Miami’s court. Miami can tell Kansas City they will give them a second round pick, leading the chiefs to take one of the left tackles. After they pick a tackle miami could easly tell Kansas City they will give them a 3rd round pick.

KC would have their hands tied, having to take the pick, unless they want to keep Albert and the new LT. Wasting both a pick and having to eat Albert’s contract.

The New England Patriots do not have a lot of picks, only 5 through the entire draft. But that does not mean the Patriots don’t have to tools to trade for a pick, if they see a player they really like.

Ryan Mallet may be on his way out, especially after Brady signed an extension with the Patriots for three more years. If the Pats wanted Mallet to start, it would be after Brady retired in three years. Mallet would be a six year veteran by then, and he may be to old with too little playing time.

There are at least 5 teams that would like to get some depth at quarterback, even though there aren’t too many solid rookies in the draft. Mallet may be the best quarterback option this year, better then all QBs in the draft, making him a key trading piece for the Patriots if they choose to get a few extra picks in the draft.

The third could take place near the end of the first round, involving either the Bills or the Jets. I don’t expect either of these teams to take a QB in the top 13 of the draft. But near the end of the round, if one of these two teams really want a qb it would not be surprising to see them trade back up. The Vikings, or even the Patriots could be trading partners for these teams.

Seem that while the Dolphins have been adding playmakers to their roster (on paper) the rest of the AFC East have been losing playmakers. Today, the Jets traded CB Darrelle Revis and his entire “island” to Tampa Bay. The New England Patriots lost WR Wes Welker in free agency.

Today’s trade takes away a major threat but gives the Jets another first round pick, number 13 in the draft. One spot behind the Dolphins. The question now becomes can the Jets and their new GM parlay the added first rounder into a game changer. The Jets will also receive a 2014 4th rounder with a conditional escalation to a 3rd with reached performance…according to circulating reports.

The Dolphins will still face Revis this season when they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a primetime game.
