The Minnesota Vikings have traded disgruntled WR Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks for undisclosed draft pick compensation.  For the Vikings it’s a smart move considering Harvin has been a head case since his arrival.  The trade however leaves a glaring hole at WR.  Enter Mike Wallace.

With only a day to go before free agency officially begins, the trade’s timing is notable given the recent rumors that a Miami/Wallace marriage is a foregone conclusion.  Like everything though, nothing is written in stone until it’s well, signed on paper.  Should the Vikings move forward with plans to sign Wallace, the Dolphins may find themselves missing the top catch once again.

There were reports about two weeks ago that the Vikings would be interested and that Wallace would enjoy playing alongside Adrian Peterson.  It appears the ball is in the Vikings court as the beginning of the new year approaches.  The Vikings, after this trade will likely become Miami’s toughest competition for the wide-out and a bidding war could easily ensue.

The Vikings are led by former Dolphins GM for a season Rick Spielman.

When reports circulated that the Minnesota Vikings would be shopping star wide receiver, Percy Harvin, many sites, including nfl.com, linked the Miami Dolphins as a possible suitor for the speedy wide receiver. Given the Dolphins “need for speed”, it is not surprising that the Dolphins have been linked to one of the National Football League‘s top speedsters – not to mention Miami’s glaring need at the wide receiver position.

Each Thursday I will give my take on the previous game the Miami Dolphins played, the one they have coming up, and cover my NFL rankings as I see them.  I took tremendous heat from some of you fans for my ‘post lockout’ rankings, but I think it will be interesting to see how the rankings look week after week.  Before I get to the rankings, let’s take a look at the results from Miami’s preseason, and a preview of their upcoming opener against the New England Patriots.
