Edge of Your Seat Anticipation

facebooktwitterreddit

For the first time this year, fans have that “on the Edge of your seat anticipation” as we all await word of who the starting quarterback will be.  Like the seasons opener and the 8 games that followed, like the announcement of Ted Ginn over Brady Quinn in last Aprils’ draft, a collective sigh of disgust will drain that excitement out of fans when Cam Cameron declares the starting QB will be Cleo Lemon and NOT John Beck, later today.

Make no mistake, Cameron is going to do just that.  Already one south Florida paper is saying that inside sources close to Cleo Lemon have said that Lemon came out of a Tuesday night QB only meeting with Cam Cameron expecting to be the Miami Dolphins starter in Philly.

According to that same article, Beck is now more prepared to come in and relieve Lemon.  Whoopie.

What this means is that next week, after Lemon struggles against the Eagles, Cam Cameron will take the podium and proclaim that there was a lot of things that Cleo did right (he will not throw a player under the bus), that there needs to be more consistency and better progression.  He will then say that he and his staff will re-evaluate both Lemon and Beck and make a determination on who should be the starter for the Monday night Pittsburgh game.  That will likely come on Wednesday as well.  The day before Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving?  For what Cameron?  You see, I support you, but as I said earlier this week, I can not support someone who plays games with the one position that needs an answer sooner, not later.  If the ball goes to Beck, Beck needs all the snaps in practice, not half of them.  If it is going to be Lemon, then just say it will be Lemon.  You already know enough about both QB’s to make a decision on Monday rather than wait until Wednesday.

I do not need Beck to start to continue supporting Cameron, I do not need Cleo Lemon not to start.  What I do need is a decision.  A definitive one that Cameron can live with or die with on the short road.  Anything less than that is a slap in the face of those few remaining fans who fully support this head coach and the mistakes that have been made.

But that is a rope that is becoming frayed.  Stop the ridiculous QB controversy, name your starter on Mondays and leave it at that.  It sure is a lot easier to answer questions when you and everyone else knows what the answers will be than to hide them and wait.  It also makes it a tad bit easier to stay on the wagon.

I am fine with Lemon starting this week, but this better not become a weekly habit.  Somehow, I get the feeling it just might.
