5 Questions With Vince Vitale

Vince Vitale is the blogger for RamblinFan and StLouisRamsfan.com.  He took the time to exchange 5 questions with me, you can read my answers to his questions here.  Hope you find these interesting as we ready ourselves for the week 13 St. Louis Rams match-up.

1: Who is the Rams biggest offensive threat?

"The most dangerous offensive threat continues to be Steven Jackson. The team plays 10 times harder when he is in the lineup. Jackson has basically missed 5 games this season and still leads the Rams in touchdowns, rushing yards, and is third in receiving. If Jackson is unable to go their only other threat is Donnie Avery."

2: What is the strongest part of the Rams defense?

"The Rams defense has been bad all over for three years now. The secondary is better than their rush D but that isn’t saying much. There best player on D is Will Witherspoon who will be replaced by ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ David Vobora at MLB this week. Ron Bartell is by far their best cover corner however he has been unable to pick off a pass all year."

3: How have team shut down Torry Holt this season?

"Torry Holt is on pace to have the worst year of his career. He is on pace to have career lows in receiving yards and touchdowns and he will have the least amount of catches in his career since his rookie season in 1999. I don’t think teams have done anything to shut him down. The Rams run about the most basic offense you have seen. Early in the season Jackson was not up to speed and Donnie Avery was not in the lineup so teams were just taking Holt out of the game or Marc Bulger was not getting enough time to get him the ball. The 15 yard out and 18-20 yard dig routes have been unavailable to Holt so far in 08′. Bulger need to hang in there until the last minute for Holt to clear but has not. Holt has caught 4+ balls in 3 of the last 4 games and if Jackson plays tomorrow I look for Holt to have a pretty good game."

4: What is the health status of Steven Jackson and how bad has it
hurt the Rams without him?

"The Rams simply look awful when Steven Jackson is not in the lineup. The other 10 players on offense all look and play better when Jackson is on the field. Jackson is listed as 50-50 but the word around the Rams is that he is expected to play and start on Sunday against the fish."

5: The Rams are having a similar year to Miami’s last season…how
are the fans coping with this teams struggles and will they cheer the
team on Sunday or boo them?

"Rams fans are about as passive as you can get. They will rarely boo. I think they are drinking a lot of kool-aid or Bud Light, whatever can keep them sane. The play of the Jets, Falcons, and Dolphins this year gives us hope. However until the front office is removed and a competent coaching staff is put into place and some of the players are weeded out it could be a long 09′."
