Wildcat > Jets
By Patrik Nohe
Remember when everyone on ESPN said Miami couldn’t run the wildcat against Rex Ryan’s Jets? Remember when Drew Bennett said Miami couldn’t beat New York because all their offense had going for it was the Wildcat? Remember when Pete Prisco simplified our offense to simply “the Wildcat?” Well it was a bunch of bullshit because Miami just punched the Jets collectively in the mouth with the Wildcat in an amazing 31-27 win over New York on Monday night.
I personally am not impressed with Mark Sanchez who completed just half of his passes, most of which were checkdowns, on his way to his second defeat as an NFL quarterback. Maybe Pete Carroll was right and Matt Sanchez should have stayed in college because aside from one solid throw to Braylon Edwards, he wasn’t much to write about. That of course didn’t stop Jaws and Jon Gruden from fellating Sanchez for the majority of the game, but at the end of the day Chad Henne beat mr. all-world.
I’ll go in depth tomorrow as I can get away from the emotional high of seeing Miami beat the Jets and try to be objective. But in the meantime, Rex Ryan, Ron Jaworski and the rest of the cretins at ESPN can shut up. Miami looks like a team playing with purpose and no one can deny the fact Miami can run the ball. The Dolphins came out and ran up and down on the Jets, threw the ball well and aside from some truly asinine officiating beat the pants of New York. New York was literally gifted one touchdown and saw several other drives extended on behalf of bad officiating. I almost hope the league apologizes to Miami, the level of BS that we saw from the officials was ridiculous.
But at the end of the day it didn’t matter. Rex Ryan is a blow-hard and the Jets are overrated. Look at their record, aside from a win against a 3-2 Patriots team they haven’t beat a good team this year. I thought a very good point was made by a friend of mine when he pointed to the level of desperation that goes into faking a punt on your own 30 in the first quarter. I don’t think Rex Ryan was confident from the outset when Miami went right down the field and scored on its opening drive. And even with desperation, fake special teams plays and gifts from the officials the Jets couldn’t pull it off. Good night to be a Dolphin. Bad night to be a fat fraud of a coach. GO ‘FINS!
