Welcome Back Kershaw & More From Miami
By Brian Miller
At the end of training camp this past off-season, LB William Kershaw was on the verge of making the Miami Dolphins final 53 man roster. Unfortunately for Kershaw, his special teams play wasn’t enough to keep around when the final numbers got crunched. With the season ending injury to CB Will Allen, the Dolphins gave Kershaw a call and now the ‘oh so close’ to making it, has made it.
Kershaw will serve as the insurance policy to ILB Channing Crowder who hurt his arm and shoulder in the New Orleans loss. He will also play on the special teams unit where he could have an immediate impact. Kershaw was playing very well on the ST unit before the final cuts were made.
In other Dolphins news, Chris Clemons was activated for the first time this season for the Saints game and although he didn’t make any tackles on the ST unit, Tony Sparano said that his play on ST’s was good and that he didn’t have the “wide-eyed” rookie look on the field. With the play of high priced free agent Gibril Wilson fans will probably be clamouring for Clemons to see action in more than just ST’s.
Over on ESPN where two members of their staff were fired over “doing it” word comes out today that former Miami Dolphins HOF QB Bob Griese will be suspended one week for saying that NASCAR driver Juan Pablo-Montoya was out having a taco. Something that the blogosphere said was a racially insensitive remark. Montoya had nothing to say about it and Griese quickly apologized for the remark, not once but twice. So I guess my question would be, what if he really was? Out for a taco that is…considering that if you eat “real” mexican food as I have been told, you don’t eat tacos.
Still looking for one or two more staff writers for the site. If your interested, send a 2 paragraph sample to me at Bmiller.phan@gmail.com. This is an unpaid gig and you must be able to write at least one article a week that doesn’t involve a game preview.
And finally from our friends at the Sun-Sentinel, and in particular staff photographer Robery Duyos, comes this gem from Sunday’s game. Jump over to the Sentinel and caption this pick for them.
