If you would have told me the Miami Dolphins would be 0-5 to start the season, I would have told you how crazy you were.  Yet, after the first 5 games of the 2011 season that’s exactly the record the Miami Dolphins have.  The problems for this team are deep, way beyond 1 or 2 things.  The offense sputters, the defense both bends AND breaks, and the special teams are not even close to being special.  It’s tough being a Dolphin fan, right now, and the sad thing is, it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better anytime soon.

I can’t help but imagine what may have happened had Stephen Ross landed Jim Harbaugh this past offseason.  After all, he has the San Francisco 49ers at 5-1, winning 3 of those on the road in the eastern time zone, something that is really rare for a west coast team.  They are playing tough, physical football, and he has Alex Smith playing well enough to win games and lead his team from behind late in the 4th quarter.  Surely he would have been able to work some magic with Chad Henne.  But, he’s not on the sideline for the Miami Dolphins, and all we can do for the rest of the season is suffer through each week wondering how high in the draft the Dolphins will be next April.

Speaking of next April, the ‘Suck for Luck’ campaign is gaining steem.  I’m full aware Andrew Luck is only a redshirt junior, and could go back to school for one more year should he feel like he has more to accomplish after his college season is over.  I’m also aware that Miami is not guaranteed to get him, there are 8 team that currently have 0 or 1 win.  Anything can happen before the year ends, heck, the Dolphins could reel off 10 wins in their next 11 games and make…….well ok, maybe not ‘anything.’

After taking a bye week myself, it’s time for the rankings.  There has been some changes of course since my last rankings were listed, and there are sure to be changes between this week and next.  Unfortunately for those teams at or near the bottom of the rankings, not much has changed.  On to the rankings……

32 St. Louis Rams (31) Maybe their Brandon will catch the ball in the end zone.

31 Indianapolis Colts (29) Had a real shot in Cincinatti, too bad they used that shot on their own foot.

30 Miami Dolphins (30) Getting real hard to watch.

29 Jacksonville Jaguars (26) Almost shocked the world in Pittsburgh.

28 Kansas City Chiefs (28) Looking to score more than 6 points after their bye.

27 Denver Broncos (25) The Tebow show comes to Miami to celebrate the Gator National Championship team.

26 Minnesota Vikings (32) The McNaab era is already over in Minnesota.

25 Seattle Seahawks (27) Pete feel’s Schwartz’ pain from postgame handshakes with Harbaugh.

24 Cleveland Browns (23) What’s the deal with Hillis?

23 Carolina Panthers (24) Cam should enter Dancing With the Stars.

22 Washington Redskins (18) Didn’t take long for musical QB’s to start.

21 Arizona Cardinals (20) Better start winning before San Francisco runs away with the division.

20 Philadelphia Eagles (21) Forget 16 games, can Vick play all 4 quarters?

19 Tennessee Titans (17) Mr. Contract might not rush for 1,000 yds.

18 Cincinnati Bengals (22) #1 ranked defense…….really?

17 Dallas Cowboys (12) Despite the loses, this team should be there towards the end.
