Ryan Tannehill Vs. Andrew Luck
By jmendel31
With the overall number one pick in the 2012 National football league draft the Colts selected Andrew Luck. This season Luck has produced a 4-3 record for the Colts, doubling their win total from 2011. So far this season Luck has thrown 8 interceptions and also 8 touchdowns, including two to Reggie Wayne who is now leading the league in receiving yards with 757. The Colts have been a surprise this year, thinking that 2012 was going to be a rebuilding year.
With the eighth pick in the 2012 draft the Miami Dolphins picked Ryan Tannehill, who at the time was viewed as a project with a strong upside. Many dolphin fans argued that if it was the right choice or just another bust. Up to this point he has silenced his critics, the Dolphins are 4-3, Tannehill also has not committed a turnover in the last month, moving his stats up to 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
Both of these Quarterbacks have looked very good so far this season, putting their teams in a spot to fight for a wild card slot, or even a chance to win their division. The Dolphins are half a game in the east while the colts are two back in south, Making this a huge game for both teams if they want to play more then 16 games this season.
The big question coming into this game is whether Tannehill will play after bruising his leg last week against the Jets. He is right now a game time decision but I have a feeling he will play. Why would he get first team snaps if he was not going to? If he wasn’t going to play they would give more snaps to Matt Moore with the first team so he could find some sort of rhythm with the wide receivers. So odds are I think he will play, if not Matt Moore will be under center who is one of the best back ups in the league, giving the dolphins a good chance to grab a W.
This is going to be another tough game for the Dolphins but again another one I think they should be able to win. One of the big things they will need to do is not let Luck get comfortable. The Colts O-line isn’t too great, meaning they will have a good chance to get to Luck throughout the day. Luck so far this season has been outstanding against the Blitz, so it will be up to Kevin Coyle to call some blitzes that may confuse the rookie.
The Dolphins will need to start off strong again this week, putting the Colts up against a wall. They will also need to get everyone involved on Offense, Defense and Special teams. If they can get some opportunities I can see the Dolphins coming out of Lucas Oil Stadium with a W and a tie in the AFC east with the Patriots. Final score 23-10 Miami.
