The clock is ticking away on the Kansas City Chiefs‘ overall pick with fans from all over the country anxious to see who their respective teams add to their effort in bringing a Lombardi trophy to their city.
From Nike’s leakage of logos and uniforms to the bounty of pass catching add-ons for Ryan Tannehill’s arsenal, the Miami Dolphins have kept their fan base abuzz for the better part of this offseason.
So the one thing they can’t afford to do is let the draft kill their vibe and stunt the momentum they built before camp.
Jeff Ireland, Joe Philbin, Dawn Aponte and the rest of the front office have to Up the Ante and Dominate this draft with the type of Assertiveness they executed with phase one in free agency.
After seriously upgrading the receiving and linebacking cores, the Dolphins had to have thought long and hard on positions they still needed to address with not just more depth but impact players.
So lets take a moment to speculate on the 2 trade rumors involving the Dolphins going on right now, why are they happening and what’s the underlying reason behind it.
First there’s the rumor involving the Dolphins trading for KC’s Branden Albert, why is this in play?
Because trading up for an offensive tackle, a player that doesn’t score touchdowns or create turnovers is lame and risky on top of it.
What if that OT comes in and plays like Robert Gallery?
So bringing in a veteran OT for our second 2nd round pick sounds like a decent proposal to me, because I’ll know what I’m getting.
Second there’s the rumor of Davone Bess on the trading block and a team like the Cleveland Browns being interested in acquiring him.
Well as a team with a top 10 pick, could a trade up be in store by combining Bess, the #12 pick, and our other second round pick for the opportunity to draft Oregon’s DE Dion Jordan to compliment Cameron Wake in nickle rushing situations as a rookie?
Shoot, why not?
Sign me up!
See where I’m going with this?
The Dolphins front office has kept the fan base base abuzz by constantly being involved in headlines with their organizational transparency as promised by owner Steven Ross.
So the Dolphins need to continue to make splashes that turn into waves carrying winning momentum onto Miami’s shores to renew fan faith in this once prestigious franchise.
So how do they do that?
By first making sure they protect their investment in Ryan Tannehill by fortifying a line of loyal guard dogs in front of him.
Second, by turning up the heat on opposing quarterbacks with pass rush, pass rush, and more pass rush.
I want opposing quarterbacks to wake up before game day in cold sweats from already feeling the pass rush!
And third, by adding playmakers in all 3 phases of the game, by adding players that have vision and catch the ball when it hits them in the hands whether its a TD reception or interception and players that locate ball carriers and pry the ball loose instead of gently dragging them to the floor.
I want thud and kirplunk elite tacklers not thud and drag average joes.
I’ve got a vision for what my ideal Dolphins draft looks like and it stems from an exciting offseason, So Let’s Go Dolphins, Don’t Kill My Vibe…
