The Miami Dolphins are not the only team looking to trim their rosters. A slew of other NFL franchises have already trimmed their rosters to the league mandated 53. The rest have until 6:00 pm tonight.
Throughout the day we will keep you updated on the top names that hit the wire. Not just ones that may spark some interest in Miami but names that may surprise or impact another team from the East. Hit refresh throughout the day on our main page and look at the update number in the title to see if an update has been added. It will read: NFL Cut Day: List Of Names – 1 Etc..
Cleveland Browns – Cut BOTH of their kickers. Will need a new one by weeks end. (Dolphins first opponent)
Cleveland releases WR Mohammed Massoquio
Seattle releases Brady Quinn
SD releases Robert Meachem – 8 million in dead money
The Redskins have kept QB Pat White.
Steelers release RB Jonathan Dwyer – Very surprised here with Le’veon Bell injured.
KC Chiefs release TE Tony Moeaki – While not a huge free agent name, he may garner some look from teams needing help. Unfortunately is more depth than substance and Miami has plenty of depth. He also has a broken shoulder.
While not a cut the NY Jets have turned over the team officially to rookie Geno Smith. Despite the injury to Mark Sanchez, which obviously makes the decision easy, the Jet brass is saying that Smith “won” the job. And yeah, I believe them…not.
Green Bay has released TE DJ Williams. The Dolphins may take a very close look at Williams. Williams was a team captain only a week ago. Unknown why he was let go but Williams would be a solid addition to the Dolphins needs at TE.
A Miami Herald report has the Dophins ready to release TE Kyle Miller – I guess they were not going to “stand pat” with what they had after all.
Patriots have released Tim Tebow – Owner Bob Kraft may like the kid but there was no way that Tebow was making the roster after his pre-season.
Patriots release Jermaine Cunningham – a 2nd round pick in 2010 Cunningham becomes another in an increasingly long line of Patriots 2nd rounders to fail. He will join recently released CB Ras-I Dowling and today’s punter cut Zoltan Mesko.
Packers release – QB Vince Young. Young has not only fallen out of favor with the Packers but apparently with the NFL. It will be interesting to see if the QB hungry Bills and Jets give him even a slight look.
NYG release WR Ramses Barden
