Take this for what it’s worth and take it from the source it comes from…the Miami Herald…Richie Incognito is done in Miami. According to the Herald speaking from a source, the Miami Dolphins will do their due diligence in regards to the NFL investigation and when the time is viable will release Incognito to the streets. Hard to believe that a year ago Incognito was representing the Dolphins in the Pro-Bowl.
The Dolphins apparently have heard the cell phone message/s that Richie Incognito left on Jonathan Martin’s phone and it was enough to suspend Incognito indefinitely. The fact that the Herald is saying the Dolphins are done with Incog should not be a surprise. The team is faced with a huge black eye and an investment in a 2nd round tackle who doesn’t want to play for them right now.
The question of how many players knew the depth of Incognito’s harassment is unknown and it may never fully be known. There may be no way of knowing if Incognito acted alone in his torment of the 2nd year player but there really was no way for the Dolphins to leave Incognito on the roster after the revelations of racial slurs and verbal threats.
This past off-season a local paper ran a report about the “changed man” Incognito had become after being labeled the NFL’s dirtiest player. The drugs to recovery story painted Incognito into a different portrait from the mean streak lineman that reared it’s ugly self in Buffalo and St. Louis. Apparently that mean streak left the field and Incognito found a different target.
Regardless, the Dolphins just need this to go away and to go away soon. They are in the middle of a legit playoff push with a winless team on the immediate horizon. A winless team who almost knocked off the predicted NFC Super Bowl representative. The Dolphins are going about practice and working on their game plan but the distractions are everywhere. Richie Incognito is about to be one less distraction.
