You may have read the previous article I wrote around the Metlife Takeover. If you follow the likes of Richie Incognito, Rishard Matthews, Paul Soliai or Mike Pouncey and others from the current roster, you may have seen it tweeted by them. If you follow former Dolphins Sam Madison or OJ McDuffie, it’s been up on their Twitter walls. Media personalities Jessie Agler, Tristin Jones and NBC 6’s Courtney Fallon have helped put the word out there. Fantasy Writer James Morris posted about it briefly, and it’s been up on numerous Dolphins Facebook groups, fan sites and other mediums.
Leading up to the event, interviews have run with the likes of Jesse Agler, as well as here on PhinPhanatic. An article appeared in the Miami Herald this week on it. Omar Kelly even referenced on Twitter what a great group it will be.
Now, after months of waiting, the MetLife Takeover is sold out and is kicking off in less than 24 hours. Final totals bring about a record shattering group ticket sale for MetLife Stadium with approximately 750 tickets sold to the group. People are coming in from everywhere to attend. This group alone is taking over nearly two full sections of the stadium. The bus lot before the game will be an absolute sea of aqua and orange, and expect there to be a few special appearances. It’s been announced that Solo D may be spinning before the game in our area of bus lot L. Miko Grimes, wife of star cornerback Brent Grimes, may possibly be joining us for the tailgate. Last year, Owner Stephen Ross, former CEO Mike Dee, Minority Owner Fergie, Fins Legend Nat Moore, the Fins cheerleaders and others joined the pregame festivities.
As big as last year was, and the support that the Dolphins showed the fans when 199 DolFans attended last years Metlife Takeover, this year promises to be even bigger. I’ve heard Dolphins brass talk firsthand about how they are planning to make an even bigger show of appreciation this year for the group, making it even better for the group than last season.
Jets fans have also taken notice. The Jets fans have been tweeting about it. I’ve personally received threats from several about us being in attendance and any promotional work I’ve done to help the DolFans NYC crew get folks to attend. It only goes to show the effect that such a large group of DolFans showing up has out there, and I’ll personally be in attendance at the game and pregame festivities.
Even though the tailgate is sold out, tickets are still available from locations such as StubHub or the NFL’s ticket exchange. Further info can be found on the DolFans NYC site: http://www.dolfansnyc.com/
If you’re at the game, or even if you aren’t and want to do your part to spread the word, be sure to tweet using the official hashtag of the event – #MetLifeTakeover. Last year, the Dolphins players and fans around the stadium could hear the 199 DolFans chanting from the rafters. You could hear the group chanting through the televised broadcast. Multiply that number of folks by almost four, and imagine what that is going to sound like. As Terell Owens would say, “Get your popcorn ready!”
I’ll see you at the game! Fins up!
