Number 7: 200 Million Dollars Invested
Anchored by the 60 million dollar deal given to Mike Wallace, Jeff Ireland’s spending spree put a 200 million dollar tab on the books for owner Stephen Ross. From Wallace to Danelle Ellerbe and Phillip Wheeler, Tyson Clabo, Brent Grimes, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, and Randy Starks, Ireland spread the money around freely. The high level of spending gave many the hopes that Miami had finally found the right formula of players to make this team a contender. The Dolphins fell short of that goal. Miami managed to gain one win over the previous two seasons finishing 8-8. An unacceptable outcome buoyed by the two consecutive losses to end the season that would have put them in the post-season.
