Who I want: Zach Martin
There’s no question in my mind that the Dolphins should draft Notre Dame OT/G Zack Martin, but whether he’ll be there at 19 is an entirely different story. He’s perfect for Miami’s needs. He’s a tad small for a tackle, but he’d fit in nicely at right tackle and even better at guard—both significant needs for the Dolphins. If he was available at 19 there is zero reason why Miami should pass, it’s a pick with great value that fills the team’s biggest need.
Who I think: C.J. Mosley
I hate to say this, but I really think the Dolphins aren’t going to take an offensive linemen here, maybe if they trade up, but if anyone less than Martin or available I don’t think they’ll take him. I think Miami is going to take Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley. It would be such a Dolphins pick, and yeah it sort of addresses a need just not the need. If he’s around and Martin isn’t I find it hard to believe Mosley passes by Miami. He’s a great linebacker who has great instincts and makes huge plays.
Overall choices at 19:
There are many players to look at with 19 and this is an extremely deep draft, so I don’t think it’s a bad idea for Miami to move back and acquire more picks. That being said here are the picks that could be a possibility at 19: Martin, Mosley, Michigan’s T Taylor Lewan, Tennessee’s RT Ja’Wuan James, UNC TE Eric Ebron and Notre Dame’s DT Louis Nix III. With GM Dennis Hickey in his first season with Miami calling the shots it’s hard to know where he’ll go, but the silver fox has had much success in free agency thus far so let’s hope for the best.
