Darrelle Revis, New England Patriots

One player who is familiar with the AFC East, and is making his rounds for a second team in the East, is Darrelle Revis.  Revis started his career with the New York Jets, and acquired the nickname of “Revis Island”, along with the reputation of one of the best shutdown corner backs in the league.  Following his 6 year tenure with the Jets, Revis departed to Tampa Bay for a season, in which he started all 16 games, and accumulated 2 interceptions, Revis hit the free agent market and later signed with the New England Patriots.

The Patriots finished 15th in the NFL in pass defense last season, allowing an average of 7 yards per passing attempt.

Revis, who is replacing the departure of Aqib Talib, looks to start at cornerback alongside Alfonzo Dennard, and Brandon Browner when he gets off his current suspension.

The acquisition of Revis strikes an interesting twist to the AFC East, as when Revis was a Jet he was quoted calling his new coach Bill Belichick a “jerk”.  The Patriots and Revis are set to take on the Jets in week 7 and 16, as December 21st may be headlined by Revis’ return to Metlife Stadium.
