DolFan Encounters: Upcoming Season Away Game Events

Everyone that reads this site on a regular basis is well aware of last years MetLife Takeover (an event that started a while before last year, quite frankly).  In addition to that event, several other away game events for DolFans have been brought to our attention that a large portion of fans are planning to attend (including a few of the Dolphin “SuperFans” out there).  These are a great opportunity to not only attend an away game event, but also to sit with a large contingent of DolFans while helping the team with a bit more of a “friendly” atmosphere.  In addition to the game itself, several of these events have events leading up to the game in the days prior.  Over the next several months, you’ll be able to obtain info on all of these events and more via several pathways:

• We’ll be keeping you up to date via announcements about the event via the “On The FinSide” radio show.

Known Events:

July 12th – Dan Marino vs Joe Montana “Legends of the Candlestick” Flag Football Game at Candlestick Park

This is the first event of the year coming up in July.  NorCal DoFan and his DolFan group out in the San Francisco area.  Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster, and if you’d like to sit near NorCal and the DolFan crew out there, they will be in section LE39, rows 3-4, seats 5-18 at CandleStick Park.  In order to purchase tickets to the event, please click here or search Ticketmaster’s website under Candlestick Park.

September 14th – (RUMORED EVENT) – Ralph Takeover

This event may see a rename this year, but there will potentially be another Ralph Wilson stadium takeover for the Dolphins away game vs the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo, NY.  Having personally attended this event last year, the event may draw a smaller group of fans than some of the other events on this list, but the group of fans that showed up and got together to tailgate before the game were out of this world and worth going up to band together with for the game.  With the game being earlier in the season than usual, it should change the dynamic slightly from the traditional late season trip to frigid Buffalo.

October 17th – 20th: Miami Dolphins at Chicago Bears

Every season, a Dolphins Superfan from California known as “NorCal DolFan” organizes an away game event that is attended by the likes of the “Dolphin Diva,” Chris & Carol “The Road Warriors” Barker and more.  This years away game event will take place at Soldier Field and there are a slew of events being set up as we speak in the days leading up to the game.  They have also set up a block of rooms at a local hotel with a group rate, there is an event on a “party boat” (HIGHLY different than the infamous one the Vikings went out on) and more.  Rumored attendees also include Orlando “Big O” Alzugaray from the Big O show on 640sports.com who may be broadcasting live on location!  To sign up for the event on Facebook, please follow the link and click here.

October 26th: Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars

Miami’s in state travel north to Jacksonville will feature an event being hosted by the Pensacola Dolfans football club.  The Pensacola group has obtained a large block of tickets in the area, and Jacksonville’s waterfront area is absolutely amazing, so there will surely be further DolFan events organized as the date approaches along the Jacksonville waterfront area.  The current deadline to obtain group tickets are available until June 9th.  To check out and view further details on the event, click here.

November 2: Out-of-Town Fan Club Meet-up, Miami Dolphins vs. San Diego Chargers

On November 2nd, the Miami Dolphins will play host to the San Diego Chargers.  In addition, the Dolphins will be hosting a post game photo on the field for several of the out-of-town fan clubs (such as the NOVA DolFans and others).  Stay tuned for further information. 

November 30 – December 1st: The MetLife Takeover – Miami Dolphins at NY Jets

DolFans NYC’s popular #MetLifeTakeover saw over 750+ DolFans last season get together to take over 2+ sections of the stadium and were so loud that they were heard on television.  Having personally attended the event, it was a great time that was attended by Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel, Dolphins legend Nat Moore, the “First Lady of Football” Miko Grimes, writer Omar Kelly and more.  This year the event promises to be even grander as it will take place on the national stage of Monday Night Football – which promises to be a wild time.  Featuring bus signup and more, you will need to get on the list to attend sooner than later to sit with the main group and help bring Miami a home game atmosphere against the hated New York Jets.
