Miami Dolphins Week 2 Fantasy Numbers
By Brian Miller
If you have Miami Dolphins players on your fantasy football roster this weekend you likely didn’t do so well. Should you continue to play them? Should you drop them, keep them, or continue playing them?
Each week I will try to keep you updated on their value based on the numbers the week before and the week ahead.
Mike Wallace:
Wallace is a solid number three or flex player in most formats. Let’s face it, Ryan Tannehill feeds this guy the ball. In PPR leagues Wallace’s value is obviously more. Last week Wallace put up 16 points in PPR leagues and is averaging 17 for the season. In non-PPR leagues, Wallace is averaging around 11.5 points in most formats. There is a marked difference which makes Wallace much more valuable in PPR leagues than not.
This weekend Wallace will see a favorable match-up with former Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith. Smith can be overly aggressive as we know. The Chiefs after two weeks are ranked 26th in pass defense. Wallace should be in your line-up this weekend. In no-PPR leagues he is projected to earn 13 points against the Chiefs.
Knowshon Moreno:
Moreno is out of the game for at least four weeks with a dislocated elbow. Eight weeks is a little extreme so six weeks is more likely. If you can stash him on an IR slot do it and pick up Lamar Miller, if not, hold on to him and eat the roster spot. You shouldn’t be dropping him yet as he still has a lot of upside down the late season stretch. However if you are relying on Moreno as one of your top two backs you are likely in trouble anyways.
Brian Hartline:
Hartline has not been targeted that much in the first two weeks and really has no value to a fantasy team even as a depth player. There are better options available and if you are holding him it’s because you’re a homer. It’s o.k. and Hartline will get you points from time to time just not with any real consistency.
Dolphins def/st’s:
Did you make the mistake of picking up the Dolphins defense after their week one showing against New England? Did you also make the mistake of starting them this pas Sunday? You likely had minus points from them if you did. At least most formats don’t deduct points for having kicks blocked and touchdowns returned against the special teams units. You would have lost even more.
The Dolphins defense is somewhere between the first week and second week so I wouldn’t drop them but I wouldn’t start them each week either or run to the waiver wire to pick them up. Save your claim for someone else.
Cameron Wake:
If you are in an IDP league then it’s possible you had Cam Wake on your roster this week against a rookie right tackle and if you did start him, and why wouldn’t you, you got a big fat zero. Wake will have better games of course so there is no reason to take him out of your lineup.
Caleb Sturgis:
You really are a home if you are starting Sturgis or you just didn’t know any other kicker in your final round of your draft. Sturgis can be good but he is wildly inconsistent at times and last week the Dolphins couldn’t move the ball close enough to try multiple field goals. He got you four points on Sunday. You would be better off with Dan Carpenter.
