AFC East Post Week 4: Tom Brady Sucks…Retire
By Brian Miller
The New England Patriots have been the darling of the National Football League for, oh, who the hell really cares it’s been a long time. Bob Kraft owns Roger Goodell in his back pocket and their head coach is often referred to as a genius. A genius with the personality of the broken headphones that sit atop my desk. Tom Brady however has it all. The model wife, the house with a moat, the GQ cover shots, and he is a star quarterback. Asked when he will retire the 37 year old told media a few weeks ago, “I will quite when I suck”. It’s time to quit as we look at the AFC East post week four.
New England Patriots:
The Patriots were horrible last night (Monday) against the Kansas City Chiefs. So horrible that Brady got benched in the fourth quarter for Jimmy Garrappolo after he threw his third interception, it was a pick six. The Patriots offense was so bad that Brady struggled to get 159 yards on the night. It was so bad that Brady Brady was rattled for the first quarter on. It really was a beautiful thing to watch. The loss put the Patriots at 2-2 creating a log jam at the top but this is a team going nowhere fast. They will have the week to think about it ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals visiting next Sunday night in a primetime game that could embarrass the Patriots nationally two weeks in a row.
Buffalo Bills:
The Bills rattled off two consecutive wins to start the season but has since lost two. This weekend the Bills pulled struggling starter E.J. Manuel and replaced him with Kyle Orton as the Bills fell to the Houston Texans. HC Doug Marrone has his hands full with his offensive struggles. He has a talented and athletic team but coaching and consistency is an issue. The Bills will next face the Detroit Lions in Detroit.
New York Jets:
The Jets have so many problems right now it’s hard to count. They lost on Sunday to the Detroit Lions in a game that saw Calvin Johnson do nothing statistically. The Jets cornerbacks are some of the worst in the league and Rex Ryan’s top defense is struggling with pass and run defense. Offensively the team struggles as well. There is simply no cohesiveness on either side and the Jets find themselves 1-3 with a trip to San Diego next weekend.
Miami Dolphins:
The Dolphins got the win they needed even if it was against the Oakland Raiders. They played the best game in the AFC East in week four and was the only team in the division to post a win. The win moves the Dolphins into a tie for first with Buffalo and New England however each team faces tough games in week five and the Dolphins could come out of week five tops in the division without having to play a game.
