Miami Dolphins Boast Viable Fantasy Football Options

The NFL football season brings with it the madness of the fantasy football season.  Injuries, domestic abuse cases and PED and illicit drug use has completely altered the preseason fantasy football rankings.  Now, fantasy owners everywhere are turning to the waiver wires or composing trades to find their next fantasy assets.  The Miami Dolphins boast more than a couple viable fantasy options as we head into Week 5 of the NFL season.  Note: the Dolphins are on a bye week this week.

1. Lamar Miller, RB

Miller is coming off his best fantasy performance against the Raiders in London, where he totaled 16.7 fantasy points off of two TD’s.  With Knowshon Moreno out at least four more weeks, Miller will continue to tote the majority of the carries for the ‘Fins running game, which currently ranks 5th overall in the league.  Miller also enjoys a prolific role in the Dolphins’ short passing game.

2. Mike Wallace, WR

Wallace already has one more TD than he did all of last season, and has scored in 3 out of the Dolphins’ first 4 games.  Though he still hasn’t broken the 13 point mark, Wallace had remained consistent this season, with an average of 10.45 points a game thus far.  He is a viable number 2 WR, and a great FLEX option in most leagues.  If he and QB Ryan Tannehill ever click on the long ball, Wallace will become one of the league’s best.

3. Knowshon Moreno, RB

After suffering a dislocated elbow early on in Week 2 against the Bills, most fantasy owners likely benched or dropped Moreno for his period of absence.  While he won’t play for another 4 weeks, his return should come with a consistent amount of points per game, as he is Miami’s number one option when healthy.  In his lone game with the Dolphins, he destroyed the Pats with 24 carries, 134 yards, and  TD for 19 fantasy points.  He should pick right back up where he left off when he returns, as the Dolphins enjoy the league’s 5th best rushing attack.

4. Dolphins D/ST

I guarantee that few owners currently use the Dolphins defense and special teams in their fantasy rosters.  Aside from one bad game against the Bills, the Dolphins D/ST has racked up 10, 10 and 17 points against their opponents thus far.  Last week against the Raiders, Miami’s D enjoyed a 17 point fantasy day, and with remaining games against the offensively weak Jets and Jaguars, they should be considered as a possible defensive option.

5. Caleb Sturgis, K

Sturgis is currently the 10th best fantasy kicker in the league, and averages a consistent 9 points a game.  He is 8 of 9 on the year on field goals, and is a perfect 10 for 10 on XP.  If you know the Dolphins’ offense, they often settle for field goals.  Sturgis is a great option at the kicker position.
