Miami Dolphins Week 12 Fantasy Outlook

The Miami Dolphins have been putting some points on the fantasy scoreboard of late and even those of you who managed to hold on to Charles Clay through most of the year started to see some return on what was likely a mid-round fantasy investment. With the final six weeks upon us and for most leagues the final two weeks before the playoffs start you need to wonder if you should be playing your Dolphins or not. So let’s take a look.

Ryan Tannehill:

If you are starting Tannehill you have another QB who really isn’t performing very well. That being said he actually isn’t a worse case scenario. Tannehill has shown much more ball control as of late and is actually getting touchdowns. He is however that really hot chick at the bar, or dude, who looks great after a few too many only to realize the next day that they aren’t as hot as you thought the night before. Tannehill looks good at times and gets enough points to warrant a play if you are stuck with an underperforming QB but he still leaves a lot of points on the board because the team can’t seem to play well in the red-zone. So the potential is there for more so you keep playing him.

This week if you have to play him you could be in for a long day as the Dolphins QB will likely get harassed most of the game from DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller, but on the other side of that coin he could be in for a score for score type game against Manning. If I had no other options I could certainly find worse ones. Like Mark Sanchez.

Mike Wallace:

Wallace will once again see double coverage and will likely see one or two deep shots that won’t connect. The good news is if he is your WR in PPR leagues, he is probably going to get thrown to a lot and I would expect a couple WR screens so there could be some easy points to get off him this week. I would start him.

Jarvis Landry:

If you need a solid number three WR this is the go to guy for Tannehill. Landry has been one of the most consistent receivers on the Dolphins roster and his role is increasing each and every week. Landry is also finding the end zone and he could become the go to guy in the red-zone as the team lacks a true physical bodies receiver in close. Good chance he increases his numbers this week.

Charles Clay: UPDATE – Clay is doubtful for Sunday with a knee injury.

If the Dolphins need to hit quick plays to avoid the Broncos pass rush, Clay and Landry will be the benefactors. Clay is due for a very big game and this could be the one. It’s not impossible or improbable to see him put up a 7 reception line for 75 yards and a score or two. He has as much potential in this game as many others around the NFL.

Lamar Miller:

If you are lucky enough to have drafted him or found him on the early season waiver wire then good for you. Miller is a workhorse back who will get his touches and his yards. If the Dolphins can get the running game going, something Denver is not very good at stopping, Miller should have 100 yards and at least one possibly two scores.  In this game Miller is solid start.

Defense:

It’s Peyton Manning and while you may be thrilled with what St. Louis did to them last week, you have to imagine that the Broncos are not going to go out and flounder for a 2nd time in a row. Manning may not have Julius Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders, who did practice on Friday, but he still has Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker and the best passing arm in the game. This is a take your chances kind of play this week.
