Miami Dolphins: 5 Observations From Monday Night
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins went to bed as the 6th seed in the AFC. They woke up this morning knowing that no one can take that away from them. Until next Sunday. The Dolphins hold the 6th playoff spot but it’s a thin grasp. Winning out will not guarantee a place in the playoffs so the Dolphins still need help. How is that possible? Well for starters they are tied with Kansas City and if things shake up in the four weeks and they end up tied with the Chiefs, the Chiefs get the final spot. So let’s just say if I were the Miami Dolphins, I wouldn’t be celebrating too hard just yet.
There is a lot of work left to be done.
Last night the Dolphins came within a quarter of being beaten by the 2 and now 10 Jets. For the better part of the game the Jets controlled the time of possession and the score but Miami’s defense held the Jets to only 13 points and in the end the Jets blitzing defense wasn’t enough to keep Ryan Tannehill from moving the ball. It was an ugly win that was made uglier by Miami’s inability to stop the run. The Jets put up over 130 in the first quarter alone and ended the night with 277
yards. Only a week after the defense gave up 167 to third string running back C.J. Anderson of Denver.
There is a lot of work left to be done.
The Dolphins will now begin their preparation for the Baltimore Ravens in a game that will end any reasonable hope of a playoff birth for the loser. Welcome to December where every game is a playoff game. Before we get to next week, let’s take a look back at five things from Monday Night Football.
