Miami Dolphins Look To Continue Years Of Change
By Brian Miller
2014
The Dolphins kicked off the 2014 off-season by firing OC Mike Sherman much to the resistance of Joe Philbin who reportedly threatened to quit if he was forced to fire his mentor. Sherman apparently talked him out of it. The following day Stephen Ross fired general manager Jeff Ireland. The Dolphins conducted yet another exhausting search for his replacement that became a national joke with the media. Ultimately the job was handed to former Tampa Bay Buccaneer employee Dennis Hickey. Hickey wasn’t so much given the job as he was noted by many in the media as the only man who would accept the job. The team was still in turmoil internally with the power being wielded by Dawn Aponte.
Bill Lazor was hired to take the Dolphins offense in a new direction.
