The biggest change came on the offensive line where coach Mike Maser was fired after the team went 11-5 the year before and boasted the 12 ranked offensive line in the league. Maser was replaced by Dave DeGuglielmo a former coach of the New York Giants. In addition the team added Darren Rizzi as the assistant special teams coach where he would eventually take over the special teams. While the minor coaching changes didn’t change the philosophy of the team, one of the worst drafts in franchise history did. The Dolphins drafted Pat White in the 2nd round apparently to compete with Chad Henne but White never made an impact on the Dolphins roster and was off the team a couple years later. The Dolphins had a lot of success in 2008 with the Wild Cat formation and White was actually drafted to continue and elevate that success. The Dolphins spent much of 2009 relying heavily on the formation but it never achieved the same success as the previous year.
