Super Bowl 2015: How Will Katy Perry Stack Up?
By Brian Miller
2012
Madonna with CeLo Green, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A.
Madonna set out to prove she could still hit while over 50 and for her part she did a very good job. Unfortunately she tried to marry herself to more modern artists and the mix didn’t flow well. While LMFA fared well enough Nicki Minaj and M.I.A brought far too much ghetto to a pop-queens stage. Minaj managed to get a middle finger salute to the camera and censors before she got off stage…it may have been M.I.A but it doesn’t matter their additions were unnecessary to the show. CeLo Green simply rode some of his “The Voice” fame onto the stage and he too, while gifted, wasn’t really placed well.
Katy Perry
Perry should be able to easily put on a better show than this one. While Madonna fought age Perry is a current star and won’t bring in those who simply wish to see how she does at a later age…maybe someday she will return at 50 and make the same mistake of trying to infuse current talent then into a show.
Who’s show will be better?
My vote is going to go to Perry unseen. While I didn’t mind Madonna’s parts, the rest seemed to be to hastily thrown together for no real reason.
