A team that started as an expansion franchise after being award to Joseph Robbie and Danny Thomas in 1965 is now celebrating 50 long-lasting seasons in the NFL. For the 2015 NFL season, the Miami Dolphins will commemorate their historic 50 season history in a variety of ways.

The announcement of these events came on Saturday, after the conclusion of rookie workouts. Several former Dolphins coaches and players joined in the announcement, including legendary coach Don Shula, and former players Nat Moore and Bob Griese.

In commemoration of 50 years, the Dolphins announced there will be a voting for the top 50 players in Miami Dolphins history, as voted on by fans, alumni and the media. Voting will open in July, and be accompanied by videos broadcasted on MiamiDolphins.com and on social media.

“We realize fans today have seen more in the last 20 years than the previous 30 years, so were going to try to do everything we can through our media content to educate and make sure the fans have a better education of the rich traditional history of the Miami Dolphins,” said Nat Moore in the announcement press conference on Saturday.

In addition, the Dolphins will be releasing a coffee table book of their 50 year history, titled “Fins at Fifty.” The book is currently available for pre-sale on MiamiDolphins.com, and will feature glimpses of the iconic Miami Dolphins history, including photographs and historic artifacts. The book will be released at the conclusion of the 2015 season, to include their 50th season.

Also, the Dolphins will accessorize slightly different this season, as they will wear a small patch on their uniform throughout the season, celebrating their 50 year history. In addition, on Dec. 14 against the New York Giants, the Dolphins will wear a throwback uniform dating back to the 1966 season. The exact specifics of what jersey are yet to be decided, the Dolphins are looking to make the announcement sometime in July.

Finally, the Dolphins released a video to illustrate their transition over 50 seasons. The video, urges Dolphins fans to express when they first became a fan, whether it was in the recent past, or the distant.

The video highlights several key “since moments” in Miami Dolphins history, including since Don Shula’s 325th win, since the hook and lateral, since Dan Marino’s fake spike, since 2015 with the signing of Ndamukong Suh, or even since right now, with the recent draft selection of Devante Parker. “Every one of us has our since moment, what’s yours,” is asked at the conclusion of the video.

“It’s really about reminding people about when they became Dolphins fans, or when they became Miami Dolphins,” said Miami Dolphins President Tom Garfinkel.

With their 50 year history, the Miami Dolphins are asking fans from around the world to share their since moment by using the “#sincemoment” hashtag on social media.
