Earl Morral

Earl Morral never put up the stat numbers but there is no question that his being on the Miami Dolphins roster had a historical affect. As the team turns 50 this year it’s very hard to not recall the 1972 season in which Morral rallied the team to an undefeated season and then unselfishly handed the team back to Bob Griese for the Dolphins playoff run.

Morral was Shula’s crutch. Shula wasted no time bringing Morral to Miami from Baltimore once he was able and Morral became the staple at back-up for Miami for five seasons. Drafted in the 2nd round in 1956, Morral played 21 years of professional football.
