Miami Dolphins At 50: Best Draft Picks
By Brian Miller
Number 1
Believe it or not we have covered quite a few players that the Dolphins have drafted who have had lasting impacts on the team and their fan base. And we are only at 1982. We skipped players like Johnny Offerdahl who would normally be on any list so he gets his mention here. The reality is that there are simply too many players to mention without leaving someone else out.
Jim Jensen in round 11, Dwight Stephenson in round 2, Joe Rose in round 7, Nat Moore in round 3, the list goes on.
For my number one, so as not to be a copout on this list, I will go all the way back to 1970 when the Miami Dolphins in round 7 selected one of my favorite players in history. Jake Scott. Scott would lead the Dolphins defense for seven seasons and be awarded Super Bowl MVP for his game against the Redskins in the perfect season. Scott was a major player for the Dolphins in his career and was the first player in Dolphins history to wear the number 13.
